Year 7 Geography Fieldwork

Year 7 spend a day at the Stibbington field centre.

Year 7 went to the Stibbington field centre near Peterborough on 16, 17 and 18 June 2014. The aim of the day was to focus on rivers and flooding. The pupils carried out river fieldwork in a tributary of the river Nene at Sacrewell farm. They measured the speed of the water and the cross section of the river channel. They worked in groups to collect the data. The pupils also developed mapwork skills and developed knowledge on flood protection at the Yarwell mill site.  Pupils were given a chance to experience and enjoy a wide range of environments and landscapes. They were able to take responsibility for their learning, gain confidence and develop new skills: such as leadership and teamwork.
