Arrangements for 11+ tests in September 2019 (Entry 2020)

  • All boys wishing to take the tests, must be registered with the school beforehand. The form can be found at the bottom of the Admissions 2020 pages on this website.
  • The tests take place on two consecutive Saturdays and students must attend both tests.
  • All students now registered (whether late or not) will be accommodated at the normal time on Saturday 14 & 21 September which is a 9am start.
  • The first paper on Saturday 14 September is the Verbal Reasoning paper. The second paper on Saturday 21 September is the Non Verbal  and Spatial reasoning paper (please see the main admissions page for details of appropriate practice material).
  • Students are not required to wear their Primary school uniform to attend the tests.
  • On the days of the tests:

    • Students should arrive at King’s for 8.50am.
    • Parking will only be available for staff and disabled visitors (please advise the school if a space is required).
    • All the tests will be sat in classrooms, or for larger school groups, in the Gym or Old School.
    • Boys will need to bring with them, a couple of pencils, a sharpener and an eraser.
    • Pencil cases, drinks or food, are not allowed in the room.
    • Boys should also be aware, that they should not, be in possession of a mobile phone, iwatch or similar data capturing device.  This will result in disqualification.
    • Lists showing classrooms for the tests will be displayed on the windows of the Lower Foyer.  This is the area under the Main Hall. The names will be grouped into Primary Schools where relevant. Please DO NOT photograph these lists as this would contravene data protection regulations.
    • We ask that all students, wait near to the covered canopy in the quad.
    • At 9.00am, candidates will be called to the Hall.  They will be shown to their exam room at 9.15am, where they will be registered.
    • We would politely ask that all parents/carers leave at this point.  Boys will be sitting tests in the rooms in this block, and we would prefer that parents do not wait outside in the quad, as this would cause distraction.
    • Parents are asked not to return before 10.30am, and to wait quietly in the Quad, when the boys will be released from the Hall.
    • If you arrive late, please check the room number on the lists, and go straight to the hall, where somebody will be available to help.
    • If your son is ill on the morning of the exam please ring the School Office (01476 563180).  We shall then arrange for your son to sit the test at another opportunity.
    • If you are transferred to an answer machine, please leave a message, and someone will get back to you on Monday following the test dates.
    • If you are delayed collecting your son, staff will be here to supervise him until you are able to return.
    • If you have indicated that your son requires special testing access, you will be contacted before the tests in September to confirm individual arrangements.
