    Curriculum

The diverse and stimulating school curriculum offers breadth, depth and challenge at every Key Stage, while catering for the needs and abilities of individual students. Teaching throughout the school encourages participation, curiosity and creativity.

    The Key Stages

At Key Stage 3, all National Curriculum subjects are studied. At Key Stage 4, all students are required to take the core subjects of English, Mathematics, three sciences and RE. They choose a further four optional subjects from Geography, History, German, French, Art & Design, Graphics, Resistant Materials, Music, Computing, Business Studies, Drama or PE. A wide variety of subjects are offered in the Sixth Form with most students studying four A levels plus General Studies.

For more information about the curriculum at each Key Stage, please download subject specific information from department areas.

    Enrichment

Academic and extra-curricular enrichment underpin all aspects of the curriculum. There are many opportunities available in Sport, Music, Art, Drama, Chess, Duke of Edinburgh, CCF, and languages. Lunchtime and after school clubs and societies enhance the learning experiences of all students and are offered to students of all ages. There is also an extensive programme of visits and trips abroad.

    Progress for All

Students are supported in their studies at every stage. The boys’ well-being and progress are monitored by form tutors, subject staff and Heads of Year while the student planners enable parents to oversee their sons’ homework and to gain an understanding of their day to day commitments and learning.
