    4.  Exam Results

    Key Stage 3

The school awards grades at Key Stage 3 based on the new GCSE 1-9 scale.  These are arrived at through Common Assessment Tasks (CATS) in each subject area four times a year.  The final CAT is the end of year exam.  End of Year 9 targets relate to new GCSE grades as follows:

    End of Year 9 Target 1c to 2a 3c to 3a 4c to 4a 5c to 5a 6c to 6a
    Indicative GCSE Target 3 to 5 4 to 6 5 to 7 6 to 8 7 to 9

A student should see progression towards his target as the year progresses.  To help with this the grades awarded have been subdivided into three categories as follows:

A             Has a secure knowledge of the material at this Grade

B             Has an understanding of some aspects of the material at this Grade

C             Has started to work on some aspects of the material at this Grade
