EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)

With the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) application deadline (30th June) fast approaching, the Home Office have requested support from schools in reminding parents, families and young people that if they are an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, they and their family members may be eligible to apply to the Settlement Scheme. I am therefore sending you this message on behalf of the Home Office.
It is crucial that eligible parents apply to the Scheme themselves and check whether they need to do so on behalf of their children. Eligible children are required to have an application in their own right and no child of any age is covered by a parent’s application to the EUSS. To provide additional guidance, a very clear EUSS leaflet (https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/media/livacuk/law/2-research/ecru/EU,Settlement,Scheme,-,Information,for,EU,or,EEA,citizen,children.pdf) has been produced by the University of Liverpool, in partnership with the Home Office It has been designed with children in mind and is intended to support both children and parents with information to help them apply to the EUSS. Further to the government's announcement on Monday evening please see the excerpt below from the guidance regarding face coverings in education establishments. For anything outside of school please see advice from local or national guidance that may still apply. Your son may choose to continue to wear a face covering through personal preference.
Based on the current state of the pandemic and the positive progress being made, the additional precautionary measures put in place from the 8 March for public health reasons are no longer recommended. From 17 May, new advice applies to the use of face coverings by staff, pupils and students in schools and further education in England. This advice is in line with Step 3 of the roadmap.
When to wear a face covering in education
From 17 May, in line with Step 3 of the roadmap, face coverings will no longer be recommended for pupils and students in classrooms or communal areas, in all schools and FE providers. Face coverings will also no longer be recommended for staff in classrooms.
