Cover Supervisor

GLEA Grade 3, Points 6-9  - 32.5 hours per week or part time, 39 working weeks per year

Actual starting salary on 32.5 hours per week, £18,200 gross per annum

We are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor either on a full time basis; 32.5 hours per week, or on a part time basis, 39 weeks per year (term time plus the equivalent of one additional week over the year to complete supplementary departmental duties and training) to start as soon as possible or for appointment at the beginning of September 2023.

Cover Supervisors are school staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.

The successful applicants will be enthusiastic and interested in working with young people, self-confident with good communication and inter-personal skills. Computer literacy is important. An essential quality is good behaviour management. Being organised, punctual, prepared for any situation and having a presence in the classroom are all vital.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and as this post is considered to be ‘regulated activity’, a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service including the children’s barred list.

Successful applicants must be familiar with, and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and promote the welfare of students.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules, see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-filtering-guidance) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

A detailed job description and person specification is available to download below.

To be considered for this post, please complete a formal application document and forward this via email to HR@kings.lincs.sch.uk. Application forms can be downloaded below along with a full job description and person specification or, alternatively, can be obtained directly from the School.

Whilst a closing date for applications has not been set, we reserve the right to interview and appoint a suitable candidate with immediate effect.  This being the case we would encourage early applications for the post.

Please note that feedback will only be provided to candidates whose applications progress to the interview stage.

The King’s School is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be expected to follow school safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of students.
