Librarian

GLEA Grade 3, Points 6 to 9

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year to include term time. Applications are invited on a full time or part time basis - please indicate your preference on the form.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Librarian to be responsible for the development and promotion of the library within the school to ensure that an effective resource and information service is provided to all students.

The ability to encourage and nurture student use of the library as an important and attractive learning resource is a key role within the school and part of the students learning journey.

Previous experience of working in a similar role is desirable but not essential.

The post is 37 hours per week Monday to Friday during term time plus on additional week to cover internal training events which are required (39 working weeks per year).  The salary grade for this post is (GLEA) Grade 3 Points 6-9 (£18,887 to £20,043 per annum) – actual commencing salary on pro rata basis: £16,296 p.a.

King’s is an all boys’ grammar school – with a cohort of approximately 1,200 students, is very popular and is often over-subscribed.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and as this post is considered to be ‘regulated activity’, a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service including the children’s barred list. All Pre-employment checks are carried out in accordance with guidance from Keeping Children Safe in Education (2022).

Successful applicants must be familiar with, and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and promote the welfare of students.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules, see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-filtering-guidance) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
