Teacher of Design & Technology (1 year maternity cover) MPS/UPS

We are seeking to appoint a full time Teacher of Design and Technology on a one year contract to cover maternity absence from 1 September 2022. It would be desirable for the successful candidate to have the ability to teach Resistant Materials and Graphics at Key Stage 3, Graphic Products at GCSE and Product Design at A Level. This role would suit an experienced teacher or a committed ECT looking to get their career off to a good start.  A full induction and CPD support programme will be made available to the successful candidate.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and as this post is considered to be ‘regulated activity’, a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service including the children’s barred list.

Successful applicants must be familiar with, and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and promote the welfare of students.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules, see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-filtering-guidance) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
