Battlefields Trip

Year 9 students visit World War One battlefields in Belgium and France.

Forty Year Nine pupils enjoyed three days of exploring the World War One battlefields in Belgium and France.  Highlights of the trip included visiting the tunnels below Vimy Ridge and attending the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.  The three days culminated with a visit to Tyne Cot Cemetery which brought home to the pupils the scale of the losses.  Pupils returned to school tired but with a greater sense of the sacrifice given by the soldiers in the Great War.
