The King's School Grantham

Isaac Newton's School

    Drama

Drama plays a major part in the extra-curricular life of the school. Drama Club is open to anyone in Year 7, 8 and 9 and runs one lunchtime a week, requiring no previous experience. Junior Drama Colours are awarded for excellent attendance and commitment.

The Drama Department presents a production every year – usually in November - sometimes this is a play, sometimes it is a musical. Students do not have to study Drama to be eligible and anyone from King’s may audition for an acting or production role, although Year 7 are excluded as they have such a busy first term.

Previous productions include: Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret, A Christmas Carol, Oklahoma, Little Shop of Horrors, The Ghost Train, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, Heil Caesar, Bugsy Malone, The Fifth Elephant, Sweeney Todd.

We have collaborated with both Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School and Walton Girls' School in some of these productions.

Students are encouraged to take on the roles of Stage Manager, Props, Costumes, Front of House, Lighting and Sound so they can still be involved but not necessarily as an actor – A level Art students usually paint the set.

School Colours are available to Middle and Senior school students for their contribution to a production.
