Methods of Teaching & Learning
In Mathematics you will learn predominately via a whole class interactive teaching style similar to that experienced at GCSE. The course will be taught in two hours per week, for one year. It can be taken in Year 12 or Year 13 and so the class is likely to contain students from both year groups.
Qualities and Qualifications Needed to Study Mathematics
It is expected that boys will have at least grade 5 in GCSE Maths.
Why Study Core Maths?
Mathematics is of great value and interest in its own right; in addition, it supports many other areas of study at A Level and beyond; for example: Geography, Economics, Computing, Design and Technology, and the Sciences. Core Maths is aimed at students who wish to continue their mathematical studies beyond GCSE, but choose not to take A Level maths.
